Additional Care & Surcharges
At Aristopups, every groom is one-on-one, kennel-free, and tailored to your dog’s individual needs. Because appointments are booked with dedicated time and focused care, some situations require additional time, product, or specialized handling beyond what is included in the base service price.
The following scenarios outline when a surcharge may apply.
🐩 Matting or Neglected Coat
Severely tangled or matted coats require additional time and specialized, safety-focused techniques. Depending on severity, this may involve extended brushing, coat correction, or humane shaving.
Surcharge: $15–$35
🐩 Behavioural or Handling Needs
Pups who require extended time, additional breaks, or restraint-free techniques due to anxiety, stress, or aggression may need specialized handling for safety and comfort.
Surcharge: $15–$30
NOTE: In some cases, grooming may be modified or ended early if continuing would compromise safety.
🐩 Overdue Grooming / Coat Restoration
Dogs who have not been groomed for several months often need coat restoration, impacted undercoat removal, or hygiene clean-up beyond standard service time.
Surcharge: $20–$45
🐩 Dense, Wooly, or Heavy Coats (Including Giant Breeds)
Exceptionally dense or long coats — especially in large or giant dogs — may require extended drying, brushing, and product use beyond standard service time
Surcharge: $20–$40
🐩 Excessive Seasonal Undercoat
During heavy shedding seasons, some dogs carry more undercoat than standard deshedding allows for. Removing impacted seasonal coat may require extended blowout and brushing time.
Surcharge: $15–$30
🐩 Long Coat Prep (6” or longer)
Longer coats require significantly more brushing, prep, and product before grooming. Dogs maintained in long styles may require additional time.
Surcharge: $10–$20
🐩 Oil or Product-Heavy Coats
If oils, coconut oil, leave-in products, or topical dressings have been applied to the coat, extra steps are required to remove buildup and protect equipment.
Surcharge: $10–$25
🐩 Late Arrivals & Late Pickups
Because we provide true one-on-one, kennel-free care, late arrivals or pickups disrupt scheduled appointments and may affect other clients.
Fee may apply after the grace period.
🐩 Fleas or Ticks
If fleas or ticks are found during the appointment, immediate sanitation measures are required, including isolation of the grooming space, disinfecting protocols, and a mandatory parasite cleansing bath.
Surcharge: $20–$40
🐩 Hygiene or Excess Dirt
If pup arrives with excessive filth — such as feces in the coat, urine-soaked fur, heavily soiled paws or undercarriage, skunk spray, mud, or manure — additional cleansing steps, product, and time are required.
Surcharge: $10–$30
🐩 Senior Comfort Groom
Dogs with mobility limitations or age-related needs may require additional support, lift assistance, modified handling, or extended time to keep them safe and comfortable. If Senior Comfort Support is declined, and additional time, handling, or assistance is still required to groom your dog safely, a time- and care-based surcharge of $35 or more will apply.
🐩 Two-Groomer Assist
If a second groomer is required for safety, mobility support, or coat management, additional staffing time may be needed.
Surcharge: $30–$50
NOTE:
Additional charges are situational, not automatic, and are based on your dog’s coat condition, behaviour, size-related handling needs, or extended service time. When identified, we will explain the reason and review available options with you before proceeding.
Multiple surcharges may apply when more than one condition is present; however, no additional charges are applied without your knowledge or consent..
